Becoming an international hub of scholars and professionals engaged in academic excellence and research in the field of development cooperation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
Master in International Cooperation and Development (MICD) is a two-year professional Master\u2019s Program aiming to develop competent human resources with specialized knowledge and effective tools to lead and manage projects in the field of development cooperation. The Master\u2019s Program is designed to equip learners with academic background and necessary practical knowledge including project management skills required by national and international NGOs, UN agencies, public institutions, and other development projects. In response to the need to train students on international cooperation and development, MICD Course is designed jointly by Mid-West University (MU) of Nepal and the International School of Advanced Studies (ISAS), Kathmandu under academic and technical assistance from the University of Pavia in Italy within the framework of global Master in Cooperation and Development Network (CDN) of Pavia. Originally initiated from Pavia in Italy, similar other Master\u2019s programs are being offered in Palestine, Columbia, Kenya, and Kathmandu, Nepal.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
MICD is open to all interested applicants having a minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s degree in any discipline from an accredited University. Good command of the English language and basic computer skills are essential. It is relevant for persons aspiring for a professional career in the public sector; national and international agencies; development projects; universities and colleges; research institutes; private sectors at national and international levels. Call for admission is open on yearly basis and around 35 students are expected to be enrolled in the program. There is no age limit for applying.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
Through a multidisciplinary approach, the Master\u2019s Program aims to familiarize students with various disciplines and development experiences. Spread over two years, the Program is structured into main courses covering Development Studies, Development Economics, International Studies, Contemporary Studies, and Management Studies including Results-Based Project Cycle Management including Internship\/Project Work and Thesis writing. MICD is organized in 4 semesters: while the first three semesters are dedicated to frontal classes, lecturers, and classroom teaching learning activities; the fourth semester is dedicated to acquiring practical knowledge and exposure through internship placement in different agencies and thesis writing on development issues.<\/p>\n
The Master\u2019s Program awards 75 Credit Hours, equivalent to 1900 marks, and covers 1200 learning hours. Each course is divided into a series of modules under different subjects. MICD classes are conducted in part-time mode, intended to allow full-time working students to continue their work without interruption. Lectures are delivered five days a week, from Monday to Friday, in the morning from 6.30 am to 9.30 am.
