Mid-West University inaugurates “MU Institute of International Cooperation and Development”
On 8th January Sunday, Mid-west University of Surkhet inaugurated its flagship institution in Kathmandu “MU Institute of International Cooperation and Development”. In a private event held on the campus premise of Masters in International Cooperation and Development (MICD) Office, the 10th anniversary of successful completion of the Masters course was also celebrated.
The participants were faculty members of the programme, other academicians, scholars, development experts, practitioners from Nepal, USA, Japan, and Italy, and the chief guest of the event was Vice Chancellor (VC) of MU, Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh. The VC also provided the academic head of MICD, Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju with a letter of approval.
Environmental conservationist and social entrepreneur Mr. Anil Chitrakar congratulated MU for starting an innovative institution and wished MU for taking a new avenue and truly represent the grass-root and be an institution for the all.
Brief remarks were presented by Mr. Prakash Sharma, Cooperation and Development Expert, Mr Shiva Dutta Bhandari, International Partnership Expert, Dr. Hijika Shimojima from Tokyo Agriculture University, Japan, Dr. Gianni Vaggi from University of Pavia, and alumni of MICD, Ms. Kavyaa Rizal and Gaurav Chaudhary. Professor Nalini Subba-Chhetri, Arizona State University, USA, Dr. Chi Huyen Truong, Himalayan University Consortium, ICIMOD, and Dr. Narayan Regmi, Joint Secretary of Government of Nepal, all expressed their willingness to support and collaboratively work with MICD.
VC expressed his commitment to improving MU and its coursework. He also extended his support to make MICD institution capable of producing human resources as per the requirement in the country.
